Sustainability

Sustainability drives us at Milx Technologies.

Our mission is to provide a sustainable solution to the dairy supply chain, support our hard-working farmers, and move us to a carbon-neutral economy while delivering the best nutrition for all of our families.

Carbon Footprint of Milx vs. Gallon Jug

The Milx process concentrates milk volumetrically by a factor of 5.5-7x.

This results in significant savings for the packaging and distribution of milk. Less than 1/7 of the packaging and distribution energy is required since there is less to ship. In addition, since the product is microbiologically shelf-stable, refrigerated distribution and sales is not required. This results in an improved carbon footprint.

Calculating Carbon Footprint

The Green House Gas emissions for USA fluid milk processing plants were first documented in detail by Nutter et al., 2013, in the International Dairy Journal (31, (2013) S57-S64). This benchmarked the greenhouse gasses produced during the processing of milk in a dairy and subsequent distribution.

Using this article as a reference, Milx Technologies is using the same methodology to determine the carbon footprint of the Milx process.

As shown in the graph above, an advanced equipment model was used for calculating the utilities for all of the processing equipment, packaging, and distribution. Milx Technologies, Inc. has accurate predictive models of the GHG produced during the production and distribution of Milx. As the equipment is installed in the first commercial facility, we will calculate the greenhouse gasses emitted by our process.
